Contemporary South Opening Friday

I’ll have a pinhole piece in the Contemporary South show at the Visual Art Exchange this Friday through the end of January. This is my first experience as an artist with the VAE—just sent them one of my babies on a whim—so I’m curious about what else will be in the gallery. Maybe I’ll see you at the First Friday reception tomorrow? I KNOW. I’ll be OUT.

Some of my ongoing pinhole series is here.

Now that this bride is wed, I can show you some of the proofs from my bridal portrait session for her this November.
The wedding itself was shot by the great Sarah Whitmeyer, who I’ve been lucky to work with in the past.

The Cornelius clan hired me to provide some coverage of their family reunion. Following formal portraits of the whole family as well as each smaller family group, I hung around to catch candids of the kids at play. In all, I stayed about two hours. More here.

I’m from a large family and I really love working with a group. Especially when there are kids. The organized chaos energizes me.

Here’s a selection from my recent session with six-week old Eve and her parents. In about an hour we kissed the baby, took some studio shots, changed the baby, took some outdoor shots, fed the baby and took advantage of some beautiful window light. Done before lunch and nap. Baby rolls documented. Family portrait achieved. Grandparents everywhere sigh in relief.

A great morning’s work.

(images may take a minute to fully resolve when opened. please excuse the weird bottom right crop.)

Just buggin’

If you’re free in Raleigh Friday night, you should come on down to Epona and Oak for Love Bug 2011. The centerpiece of the event is a draw-off featuring a slew of Raleigh artists. You can buy their freshly finished art right on the spot! Proceeds go to Toxic Free NC.

I’ll be shutterbuggin’.

Here’s what New Raleigh had to say about last year’s event.

Holy wedding season, y’all.
I’ve been busy shooting engagement sessions. And I’ve been spending the occasional Saturday helping some local wedding photographers take care of wedded business. It’s always nice to get into the thick of an beautiful, intimate event. And it’s great to work with some fellow photogs. We are a strange breed.
More to come soon, including some newborn babies. And who doesn’t love babies?
